Leader Training -
Basic & Age-Level

Leaders and troop support adults are welcome to take this training.

Basic Leader Training - this is the first course that adult volunteers should take. There is no charge for Basic Training, but participants must register so that trainers may prepare enough materials. Trainings with less than the minimum number of participants will be cancelled and participants may transfer their registration to another session. We cover all the Girl Scout basics:
1. A brief overview of Girl Scout history and program goals
2. Troop organization and money management
3. Safety rules and guidelines
4. Parent involvement
5. Troop activity planning
6. Where to get help
7. AND your favorite question -
"What on earth do I do with these girls next Tuesday night?!"

Age-Level Training - this special training is offered for each age level in Girl Scouts -
Daisy, Brownie, Junior and Studio 2B - the place for girls 11-17. New volunteers should take this immediately following Basic Leader Training. Sign up for the age level that you will be working with your first year. Returning leaders should take the next level of training any time they are ready to begin working with a new age group of girls. Fees charged for age-level training cover the wholesale cost of the complete set of age-level books given to each participant during training. If you already have your books, there is no cost for the training.
In each level training we'll cover:
1. Age level characteristics of girls
2. Group dynamics
3. Program opportunities
4. Try-its, Badges, Patches etc…
5. Handbooks and resources
6. Organizing your program year
7. Other training opportunities

Basic and age level training sessions are offered back to back at the same
place and time. Adults requiring age level training only should simply register
for the later session and join us after the break.

Training Cost: Basic - $0.00 / Daisy age-level - $12.00 to cover the cost of books
Brownie, Junior, Studio 2B- $18.00 to cover the cost of books

Troop Camp License Training

Your girls have decided they want to go camping and you hardly know where to begin. The best way to start off on the right foot is to spend a weekend with well qualified, experienced trainers who will share with you their knowledge and inside information to make planning and going on your camping trip a huge success for you and your girls.

Trainings are held at beautiful Camp Tik-A-Witha in Van Vleet, MS.

Participants will leave having experienced:
· Outdoor Program Activities
· Trip Preparation
· Cooking procedures including: fire building, cooking and clean-up
· Camping skills including: minimum impact and progression
· Safety standards

Join other Adult Girl Scouts as they overcome camping fears or get reacquainted with the outdoors. Eat some great food as you try out a variety of recipes for use over a fire or camp stove. Make new friends and find out how great camping can be.

Before ANY troop or group may go camping:

" The leader has taken council group (troop) camp training in teaching and supervising group camping." (Safety Wise, pg 87)
